As an employee of Pet Extreme, I get the treat of seeing a wide range of adorable little puppies. Although it gets tempting @ times, I have learned to restrain myself from wanting to take home everything that comes through the door that is looking for a home. One day one of our regular delivery drivers brought in pictures of his litter of 6-week-old puppies to show off. Not intending to fall in love (especially w/a pit bull mix), I started thumbing though the pictures. Then it happened…I saw her & fell in love. I told him, “OK FINE BRING HER TO ME NEXT WEEK!!!”

Candy is now 4 years old, 80+ lbs, & thinks she’s a lap dog. We can no longer sit on the floor w/out Candy backing up & inviting herself to the open spot on your lap. Even though she’s not supposed to, Little Miss 80 lbs has mastered the technique of jumping onto the bed w/out waking me. Sure enough, every morning there she is cutting off the circulation to my limbs.

Candy has proven all the stereotypes people have labeled the pit bull with, to be completely wrong. The only thing she would do it lick someone to death. My old grumpy Chihuahua is more of a threat than her. We can’t take her anywhere w/out people showering her w/compliments & asking to pet her. Candy of course has her faults as every dog does. She burps, farts, & snores. But since there is a big chance I can’t have children, she fills the void perfectly…and doesn’t even talk back. I LOVE MY PITBULL.
