My Pet Bones by Stephen and Family
We are a family of six, All girls and their Dad. one night after youth group at our local church my wife and I received an excited call from two of the girls asking if they could bring home a stray pitbull. After much pleading we agreed to meet her and try to find her rightful owner. When the girls arrived home they were holding what turned out to be a staffordshire terrior, what we took to be a puppy was actually a mature three year old female. We were instanly in love with her. She had all the habits of a trained piggy! She snored, she inhaled food, had unbeleivable gas and we just loved her. Two days later we get a call from a woman claiming to be her owner. After a dilligent interview we realized the woman was the owner and we needed her to be reunited with "piggy". Great for them, HEARTBREAKING for my girls. So the very next day we start looking for our own piggy. The internet, the rescues, lastly the local pound. After two days of wonderful little faces pressed against their cages begging us to take them home, and many a tug at our heartstrings, "I" came across the unlikeliest of candidates, an animal with a head the size of a watermelon, two feet tall and 80lbs.,and the worst reputation imaginable. An American Bull Terrior. My family all said "NO". Well I was done. He was it. I had to have HIM. It was Sunday and he was up for adoption tomorrow. I could hardly wait but I had to work and someone else might get him and what do we do?? My wonderful wife takes her day off and arrives as they open the doors. She filled out the adoption paperwork and they bring him around...But we couldn't have him?? Turns out the stray has a chip in his neck. He is from hundreds of miles away and the phone number listed answers with a machine and they have not returned the shelters call. The supervisor on duty says they need to try ONE MORE TIME to see if they can find his owner...ARGH not again. We agree, they should try again and if he is meant to be ours then he will be. The very next morning we are informed there was no response to the third try and we were the proud parents of our latest addition whom we named "Bones".
